Pros and Cons
Pros: -The floors are immaculate and clean. -No bugs, critters or lizards in our room (a problem at Sofitel and Intercontinental water bungalows). -Refrigerator is new. -Studio with half kitchen is MUCH nicer than the water bungalows (390 Francs upgrade
fee). -AC works fantastic (BUT you must leave it on all day. The intercontinental told us the cold prevents critters from entering your room). -Lobby internet connection is fast. -Food truck across the street is really tasty. Cons: -No internet in the rooms.
There is only internet in the lobby. -Lobby has an enormous amount of mosquito. -Lobby chairs are filthy. They clean it by swatting the dust off. They do not wash anything. -No receptionist after 6 PM. -No phone in your room so you cannot book your activities
or call for a dinner pickup yourself or after 6 PM. -The receptionist charges for every phone calls even for activities and information. -The receptionist refused to call Avis "because that's by the airport" and called some small vendor who gave us an old
junkie scooter. -ALL OF THE RECEPTIONIST were unfamiliar with island activities and refused to reserve anything unfamiliar. We spent the day at intercontinental and had them book our activities. -The signs are handwritten on pieces of cardboard. They won't
even print a restroom or library sign. -Bed bugs. We were very itchy every time we slept in the bed and I had found a small/ micro bug crawling on me. -The beds are so old you can feel the springs digging into your skin and you sink in the middle of the bed.
-The housekeeping woman would not change our sheets with clean ones. We asked them to change our sheets to see if that's why we were itching but when we went back to our room she only made the bed. We saw the same stains on our sheets. -They do not give you
any shampoo only two bar's of soap. -They gave us towels with holes in them and it was a struggle to get them to replace those towels. -Shower water smells really bad. Our swimsuits smelled afterwards like old seaweed and urine. -Kitchen cabinets are falling
apart. We had loose screws where the doors would not sit up on their own. -Water bungalows are disgusting, old, cramp, and dirty. We heard another guest complaining to the receptionist about leaks after it had rained. -Blackouts. They do not have a backup
generator and we lost power a few times for a while. -Swimming pool is dirty. I am not sure when or if they clean it. There is a film on top of the water like larva; perhaps why the reception area has so many mosquitos. -Sadly, Cooks Bay (which Club Bali is
facing) is filled with left over construction debris that the fishes live in. We love to snorkel but were deeply sadden by how much waste the Bay is filled with (assuming by lack of regulation and hotel waste). -Tanoa refused to call and confirm our activity
reservations. She was extremely difficult, stubborn and unwilling to be flexible. But she is very nice and kindly says to do what she wants you to do instead. -Olga called the airport when I asked her to check on reserving activities. The airport receptionist
and I were confused as to why she did this. Bali Hai Canoe Club Grill Restaurant: Pros: -Nice view -Nice Bar set up (not drinks) Cons: -No one eats there except the workers. -The workers sit around all day at one of the round tables resting. -Unsanitary. All
the condiments and food sits out all day long. At night, they put a blanket over the food. -Plastic furniture. Everything is missed matched even in our room. Its cheap plastic furniture. -Unwashed table linens. They never clean them. We REALLY TRIED to give
Club Bali Hai a chance. We even booked Helmet diving, Scuba Diving, Tiki Village all in one day, just to see if being extremely exhausted would change our experience. BIG Sigh, after four miserable days at Club Bali Hai we left Moorea 3 days early and checked
into the Intercontinental in Tahiti.
