Review 5/27/2009
I started dealing with Midas of Redlands in 2006 with Bob, the manager. I was actually serving in the army in Operation Iraqi Freedom when I first contacted him. My wife's car needed a new transmission and I contacted Bob's office and at the same time told them what I wanted done to the car. I asked that the tranny, syspension, belts, and brakes be fixed. While at the shop, he recommended coolant system service.. Bob replaced the transmission which according to him a rebuilt transmission will be installed. I came home a few months after and found something wrong with the tranny. I didn't have a first gear. I took the car several times and Bob could not figure it out. Months later, the coolant system went out and the engine needed replacement. I took it to Midas. Paid and then after I got the car back from the shop, the engine ran hot and it made a rattling noise. The battery also kept dying and needed recharging/replacement. I paid again for a new alternartor after I got towed twice because Bob couldn't figure it out what was causing the battery to do that. Then after that, the engine started running hot and the transmission started slipping. I took it to Bob a few times but everytime he checks it, he couldn't figure out what is wrong and everytime I get the car, it's the same thing happening. I still emphasized that tranny didn't have a first gear. He claimed that the tranny was "acting goofy!" Finally, the tranny went out and I tried driving it and it always stalls. Fluids were good. Then come to find out that Bob is no longer manager and now it was Tim. I brought it back to Midas. Tim told me tha the remembers the transmission that was installed in my car becasue he was the one who picked it up from the dismantlers and it wasn't a rebuilt tranny but it was from a junk shop. Much to my surprise. I thought I had a better tranny. They took out the tranny and they told me that it will need a new transmission. Tim, the new manager, didn't honor warranty nor did not make the slightest consideration on all that money, about $6,500 total, that I paid them to fix my car. He said he had to sue the former manager and come back out of retirement. But he didn't find any notes on the computer about my regular visits to Midas and to the former manager, Bob, complaining about the malfunctioning of my car. I wish every customer will have the option to enforce on Midas that they log every visit, every complain that each customer have to say against their service or vehicle repair. It is very sad that managers like Tim will not honor commitment of their quality of service and provide a quality repair service. Midas, you are out of my list and I will share this experience with the military community that I served with and with the whole country that I have served and will continue to serve so we can preserve the freedom and democracy that we all dearly love. I wish I had a better experience to share with you.
